I've always wanted to add color to my work, but nothing I tried was quite what I was looking for. I tried colored stones and enamel, but they weren't the flat, modern blocks of color I wanted. Enter Formica — this durable material, probably the same stuff your grandmother's countertop was made of, turns out to be a gorgeous material for jewelry.
This one makes me laugh every time. It's a faux woodgrain — a very fancy mahogany — on the front, with real wood peeking out from the back. I think the dichotomy is hilarious: fake wood covering up real wood.
