I've always wanted to add color to my work, but nothing I tried was quite what I was looking for. I tried colored stones and enamel, but they weren't the flat, modern blocks of color I wanted. Enter Formica — this durable material, probably the same stuff your grandmother's countertop was made of, turns out to be a gorgeous material for jewelry.
These earrings feature a linen-textured Formica in a soft light blue. A sterling silver post connects to a square bar, which leads to a hinged circle of Formica, bezel-set in sterling silver, so the circle moves and catches the light as you wear them.
